Being export leader of Türkiye both in grain and feed milling technologies last year, Imas solidifies its leadership position every day with new achievements in milling industry. Imas and BUA Foods signed a new agreement to build the second ‘mega mill’ project of BUA Foods in Nigeria. After the first 3x800 TPD flour mill built by Imas for BUA Foods, the signing ceremony for the new 4x800 TPD flour mill project was held in BUA Group headquarters in London, England on the 20th of August, 2024.

As one of the leading food producer companies in Nigeria, BUA Foods recently decided to take a further step with a new investment in flour milling, under its strategic expansion plans. The new flour mill project is expected to provide enhanced manufacturing capacity and diversity for high-quality products, that will contribute towards addressing food safety and security challenges in Nigeria. After the completion of the new project, BUA foods also targets to increase its existing total capacity from 4.000 TPD to 7.200 TPD, which means 2.5 million metric tons of annual wheat milling capacity.

'BUA Foods - IRS 2 Flour Mill’ was the first project that Imas and BUA Foods worked together. The mill has been operating in Port Harcourt, Nigeria since 2023, having 2.400 TPD total capacity with 3 lines of 800 TPD each. BUA Foods today preffered Imas - the prominent Turkish flour and feed milling machinery manufacturer and turnkey service provider - again to build the new flour mill project: 4 flour mills of 800 TPD each, means 3.200 TPD cumulative milling capacity. With the completion of the new project, Imas will have established flour mills for BUA Foods in Nigeria with a total capacity of 5.600 TPD.

The agreement was signed during a formal ceremony at BUA Group headquarters in London, England, in the attendance of top executive members from both parties including Mr Abdul Samad Rabiu (Chairman, BUA Foods), Mustafa Özdemir (General Manager, Imas), Hasan Tosun (Vice General Manager, Imas) and Seyit Ali Topaç (Sales Manager, Imas).

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman, BUA Foods Plc, said, "This partnership with IMAS is a testament to our dedication to improving food security in Nigeria. These new factories will significantly boost our capacity to continue to produce high-quality flour products while helping to create additional job opportunities across the country. This investment is a step towards our target of increasing our share of the Nigerian flour market. The addition of four mills will enable us to produce high quality flour thereby offering us the flexibility to address various potential flour needs.”

Also Mustafa Ozdemir, General Manager of Imas said that "We at Imas are happy to again contribute to BUA Foods’ expansion drive, aimed at ensuring that more people in Africa have access to affordable and healthy food. Additionally, we feel proud to come together to sign a new agreement with BUA Foods today again, after our first project that we realized together. After the completion of this new project, Imas will also have another important reference project not only in Nigeria or Africa, in the global scale."
