The tremendous struggle of the heroic Turkish army on the Çanakkale Front is an event that shaped not only the history of the Turkish nation but also the history of the whole world. This victory changed the balance of power in the world and once again demonstrated the determination of the Turkish nation.
The Battle of Çanakkale gave the people of Anatolia great hope and determination. This determination ignited the spark of the War of Independence. The great Turkish army under the command of the great commander, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, emerged victorious against the enemy with superior combat tactics and courage. However, it should not be forgotten that this victory is not only a military success; it is also a victory in which the Turkish soldier demonstrated his humanity.
The Battle of Çanakkale, an epic written in every trench, made the principle of "Çanakkale is Impassable!" accepted by the whole world. This war symbolises a great resistance against the world's greatest armies. 18 March Çanakkale Victory is a magnificent example of perseverance, determination and sacrifice.
A great epic of heroism was also written behind the front line. This victory has been a beacon of hope for nations that have lived in captivity for centuries. The Çanakkale Victory was a victory against huge navies with the latest technological weapons and showed the determination of the Turkish nation to protect its homeland.
Today, we celebrate the 109th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory and we commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, his comrades-in-arms, our martyrs and all our patriotic people with gratitude and greet them with respect. The sacrifice and courage shown by them will always continue to remind the Turkish nation's determination in the struggle for independence and freedom.
